Why it Works
Why HigherEd-AI Works
HigherEd-AI combines consistent simulation with rich feedback. Every student receives the same core experience, while the AI responds dynamically to their choices. This creates a fairer assessment process and a more realistic learning environment.
User Feedback
★★★★★
“HigherEd AI felt like the missing step between lectures and placement. I could test my interviewing skills with the voice agent, make mistakes, and learn from them without worrying about real-world consequences. The transcript and recordings helped me see where I was talking too much, missing cues, or not exploring important issues. By the time I went on placement, I felt much more prepared for difficult conversations.”
Social Work Student- Final Year
★★★★★
“Using HigherEd AI helped me turn theory from tutorials into real conversation. The simulation pushed me to use assessment tools, risk questions, and reflective listening in a natural way. The rubric-based feedback showed clearly which competencies I was meeting and which I needed to revisit. Being able to repeat the scenario and see my scores improve over three attempts gave me real confidence that I was progressing.”
Postgrad Student- Practice Module
★★★★★
“I was nervous about my first placement and worried I would freeze on calls. The HigherEd AI simulation let me practice at my own pace, in my own space, before ever speaking to a real service user. I liked that every student had the same case, so it felt fair, and we could compare approaches in class. Having the recording and feedback made supervision sessions more focused, because my lecturer could see exactly what I had done and where I could improve.”
Undergraduate- used for Placement Preparation
Parity and uniformity
Each learner faces the same starting scenario and core prompts. This reduces variation between live role-plays and placements. Tutors can compare performance across a cohort without worrying about differences in role-play actors or placement quality.
Time saving for lecturers & trainers
Running and marking live simulations is labour-intensive. HigherEd-AI automates much of this work. The system records the interaction, applies your rubric, and produces feedback within minutes. Lecturers can then focus on higher-value supervision and debrief.
Rich evidence for feedback
Recordings and transcripts give staff and students a clear view of what actually happened in the conversation. They support reflective learning, second-marking, moderation, and quality assurance. They also provide anonymised examples for teaching and calibration.
Theory in action
Students are asked to show how they apply theory and evidence in a complex case. The simulation helps them move from “knowing” to “doing,” as they test their understanding in a realistic scenario with emotional and ethical weight

University Lecturer in Social Work
“We used HigherEd-AI with a cohort of 150 social work students, and it transformed how we help them bridge the gap between classroom learning and practice. Each student completed multiple simulations with the AI voice agent, working through the same core case but in their own way. That uniform starting point was invaluable. It meant we could compare performance fairly, map progress against our assessment criteria, and identify common areas where students needed more support.
The students reported feeling more engaged and better prepared for real practice placements. They could test their skills, review recordings and transcripts, and see how their decisions played out in a safe environment. From a teaching perspective, the time saved was significant. Instead of running and marking individual role-plays for 150 students, we could focus on supervision, debrief, and targeted teaching informed by the simulation data. HigherEd-AI has become a very useful addition to our teaching toolkit.”
